Founded in 1995, ENA provides customized, managed network solutions serving K-12 schools, libraries and other government agencies. In the four years since David Pierce assumed leadership of the 60-person firm, its revenues have grown 53 percent and customer satisfaction and retention have both reached 99 percent. This performance is even more impressive considering the uphill battle that Pierce faced upon assuming leadership of ENA in 2002: The company was under scrutiny for allegations that employees knew were untrue and, to remain in the black, a 40 percent employee layoff was looming. Pierce focused on strengthening employees' commitment to the organization's values, to its customers and to each other. He held all-employee meetings twice a month to review progress and recognize achievements. The organization rebounded, and in 2006 ENA was named one of the state's Top 20 Best Employers by Business Tennessee magazine.
